How to enter

The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2019 is now closed. Good luck to everyone who entered, and well done!

The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2019 is now closed. Next year’s competition will launch in spring 2020. All entrants will be contacted in mid-September with the results, and the winners will be publicly announced on 2 October 2019. The following is for your information. The competition is now closed and we will not accept late entries.

To enter the competition you must be aged 11-17 years on the date of the deadline, 31 July 2019. You can enter your poem/s simply by visiting the website or by post by sending your entry form and your poems to The Poetry Society using the following address: FYP2019, The Poetry Society, London, WC2H 9BX. 

If you are a school, youth group or an adult that would like to submit more than one young person then you can enter your students’/young person’s work online using our quick and easy class entry form, or send them in by post. Please see our website,, for details and the competition rules.

If you would like to request a free class set of anthologies, more posters or flyers to inspire your students, or would like more information about any of our education services, such as Poets in Schools, please email [email protected].

It is completely FREE to enter. Poems must be in English or in BSL (do contact if you have queries regarding any BSL entries).
