Youth Members
Our Youth Membership is designed to help poets improve their writing, find out about opportunities for young writers, keep in touch with what's happening in poetry and share writing with other young writers. Membership is open to anyone aged 11-18 and costs just £15.00 per year.
We have hundreds of other young members, including many past Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award winners and the best poets from the Slambassadors competition.
You will also be able to send in your poems, reviews and articles for our Youth Members Magazine. Each issue will be guest edited by one of our young members. Membership will give you:

- A reader's guide to contemporary poetry from a selection of the country's finest poets
- Poetry posters
- Opportunity to enter The Norman Hidden Prize
- Quarterly copies of Poetry News keeping you informed of what's happening in the poetry world and in the Poetry Society, with opportunities for all members, young and old, to see their work published and shared with thousands of other members
- The opportunity to submit to the Young Poet Pages on our website, dedicated exclusively to your interests and your poetry
- Invitations and discounts to readings and workshops for young writers and readers
- Specialist information about competitions, magazines and websites for young writers
The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award is Britain's most prestigious poetry prize for young writers between the ages of 11-17. Each year we look for a hundred of the best young poets in the UK and beyond, as well as some of the most active poetry schools with special prizes for both 11-14 and 15-17 year olds. The closing date each year is 31st July.
Slambassadors is the only UK professional development online slam, and is open to 12-18 year olds living in London and Liverpool. If you’re keen to develop your writing and stage skills, this is the competition for you.
