Beginnings and Endings exhibition launch

Thursday 11 February 2016, 6:30 pm9:00 pm

'"A screaming comes across the sky" — Thomas Pynchon, Gravity's Rainbow' by Nicole Cowan

Middlesex Univ Beginnings and Endings exh

Join us for the launch of the exhibition, Beginnings and Endings, images by the students and staff of Middlesex University’s Illustration degree course inspired by the first and last lines of novels. Each image aims to entice and engage the viewer in the same way that an author endeavours to tempt a reader beyond the first page, or, with a concluding line, to resolve a set of circumstances or suggest future possibilities within a novel.

Supporting this project are the award-winning author Carol Birch, whose Jamrach’s Menagerie (Canongate) was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize 2011, and  John King, publisher at London Books and author of The Football Factory (Vintage).

Note, works will be for sale at very affordable prices and sales proceeds contribute to the students’ final degree show.

This is a free event; if you would like to come, RSVP to [email protected]

The exhibition, Beginnings and Endings, is at The Poetry Café, London, 8 Feb – 13 Mar 2016.
