Jill Abram presents Stablemates: Conversation & poetry with Stephen Daniels, David Clarke & Sarah James of V.Press
Stephen Daniels is the editor of Amaryllis Poetry (Poetry Swindon’s poetry blog) and Strange Poetry. Tell Mistakes I Love Them exposes social nerves and pokes at the wounds with poems that are very vulnerable and very poignant. Daniels is a master recreating the implied sense of threat that often lurks behind the everyday. Julia Webb
David Clarke’s pamphlet, Gaud, won the Michael Marks Award and his debut collection, Arc, was longlisted for the Polari First Book Prize. Scare Stories was a Poetry School Book of the Year and longlisted for Best Poetry Pamphlet in Saboteur Awards 2017. His second collection will be published next year. Scare stories is a frightening mirror, but it’s also compelling and hypnotic, I dare you to look away. Claire Trévien
Sarah James is the author of four poetry collections, three poetry pamphlets, two novellas and was longlisted for the memoir prize in the New Welsh Writing Awards 2017. She is the editor at V. Press, which she set up in 2013. Full of piercing and original imagery, Plenty-Fish shows a mature and erudite poet, unafraid to explore a variety of poetic forms and fascinated by the elusive quality of words. International Rubery Book Award
