Anne has been described as “a fresh voice among Scottish contemporary poets” (Alan Riach Her highly acclaimed debut poetry collection, Transitory, was published in spring of this year. (She writes in Scots and French as well as English.) Language of my Choosing her creative memoir published last April, was shortlisted for the 2017 Saltire First Book Award. With the assistance of funding from Publishing Scotland an Italian translation will be launched in Italy in autumn 2018 and a paperback edition is shortly to be launched in Glasgow.
Anne Pia is a Scottish poet based in Edinburgh. Born in the city, as the grandchild of Italian immigrants she was raised surrounded by the food, traditions and dialect of southern Italy. Her Italian grandmother was a major influence, whose sense of style, love of food and wise views of life.
Her poetry has been published in Northwords Now, Poetry Scotland, New Voices Press, Lunar Poetry, The Fat Damsel and South Bank Poetry, and online in Far Off Places, Poet and Geek and Ink, Sweat & Tears. ‘Viticuso 1913 and 2005’ has been translated into Italian. She plays the mandolin in the Edinburgh Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra and has played at poetry festivals around Scotland.
Anne will be reading from her latest collection of poetry ‘Transitory’ as well as answering questions from host Katherine Lockton and audience members.
