How to enter

The Stanza Poetry Competition is open exclusively to Poetry Society members (if you’re not a member join here) who are also members of a Poetry Society Stanza. The theme for the 2018 competition is TRADITION – however you wish to interpret it. Send up to two poems, either online, or by email, or by post, max 40 lines per poem. Free entry. Closing date is Monday 10 September 2018 and the winners will be announced on National Poetry Day, Thursday 4 October 2018. Judge: Penelope Shuttle.

Enter by email

In the text of the email, please include your name, address and contact number, the poem title/s, your Poetry Society Membership number, and the name of your Stanza and Stanza rep. Attach your poems in a separate Word document, and please do not include any identifying information on the poems themselves. This will ensure that poems are judged anonymously. 

Send to: membership @ poetrysociety.org.uk with Stanza Poetry Competition in the subject line. 

Enter by post

On a separate piece of paper from the poem/s  enter your name, address and contact number, the poem title/s, your Poetry Society Membership number, and the name of your Stanza and Stanza rep. This will ensure that poems are judged anonymously. Do not use staples on your manuscripts.
