Abigail Parry wins Free Verse poetry competition

Abigail ParryAbigail Parry, who won the Troubadour and Ballymaloe poetry competitions this year, has made it a hat-trick by winning the Free Verse: Poetry Book Fair Competition, judged by Jo Shapcott. Jo said of Abigail’s winning poem, ‘Key’.

“The winner is a fourteen-line poem full of verve and naughty joy, ‘wicked fun’ as the poet says, but open-hearted at the same time. Bravo to this skilful glimpse of love con brio and kink.”

Among the three runners-up are Poetry Society Members Fiona Moore, and Catherine Davidson. The third runner-up is Talin Tahajian.

You will be able to read the winning poems on day of the fair, Saturday 17 September, when they will be displayed around the venue. The winners will also be reading their poems.
