Alison Mace wins the Second Light Long Poem Competition

Poetry Society Member Alison Mace (Gloucestershire) is this year’s winner of the Second Light Poetry Competition for long poems by women, judged by Alison Brackenbury.

The winner of the Short Poem category is Caroline Price. Second prize goes to Poetry Society Member Angela Kirby (London) and third prize to Martha Street.

Among the Commended poets are Poetry Society Members Dorothy Coventon, Hilaire, Alice Kavounas, Anna Kisby, and Jennie Osborne. Poetry Society Members Jill Boucher, Lorna Dexter, Angela France, Jenny Hamlett, and Joan Michelson are among the shortlisted poets.

The adjudication event is in the Autumn Festival lineup (17 & 18 November 2016), with readings by the judge and three of the winning poets. Winning and Commended poems, and the Judge’s comment, are published (in full or extract) in ARTEMISpoetry Issue 17 (November 2016).
