Judy Kendall has chosen Elzabieta Wójcik-Leese as the winner of this year’s Cinnamon Press Debut Poetry Collection for bearings / counterbearings. Elzbieta was shortlisted for The Poetry Society’s Popescu European Poetry Translation Prize in 2015 for her translation of Nothing More by Krystyna Milobedzka (Arc Visible Poets series).

Judy comments:

“I would buy this book. It really draws the reader in to a shared fascination with language, and what it expresses, delivered with love and devotion not just in terms of exploration of language in content, but in word choice, form, placement on the page. This is very good work that needs to be seen. A real find.”

Elzbieta’s winning collection will be published in summer next year.

Poetry Society Members Catherine Whittaker, Jackie Gorman, Patricia McCaw, and Ellie Rees were among poets on the shortlist and full details can be found on the Cinnamon Press website.
