Happy UNESCO World Poetry Day

Today, 21 March, is UNESCO’s World Poetry Day. We hope you’ll be celebrating with some reading, writing or watching of poetry – and our brand new website is a good place to start. Explore the poetry available online in our new Poems database, skip straight to reading the 2014 Foyle winners, or Ted Hughes Award shortlist; or watch a filmpoem or two.

Perhaps, if you’re in London, you’ll be visiting our Poetry Café’s current exhibition, Sketches from the Poem Road or visiting for the book launch that will be going on this evening, Plain Text.

Elsewhere, you can help the Rainforest Alliance finish a frog haiku, or brush up on your poetry listening over at the Poetry Archive, with a guided tour of recordings of the Next Generation Poets 2014 – and you can even pay for a coffee with a poem, in selected locations.

However you choose to celebrate, enjoy and spread the word. Happy World Poetry Day.
