On The Buses! Poetry Society Members triumph in Guernsey International Competition

The winners of the Guernsey International Poetry Competition, judged by Ian McMillan, have been announced with Poetry Society Members taking five of the six places in the Open Category.

The winner is Julian Dobson for ‘Gâche Melée’ (a poem about a traditional Guernsey recipe dating back for hundreds of years), with the rest of the places taken by Poetry Society Members Jennie Osborne, Janet Lees, Geraldine Clarkson, Pat Borthwick, and Sheila Wild.

The Young People’s Category featured Foyle Young Poet Leila Dickinson, who received an Honourable Mention for her poem ‘Fire’.

The winning poets will now get the chance to see their poems ‘on the move’ around the island of Guernsey. A total of 33 poems will be displayed on the island’s buses and at various public places, alongside poems from Poetry Society Members Robert Archer, Chloe Balcomb, Isabel Bermudez, Sharon Black, Jonathan Edwards, Doreen Hinchliffe, Eve Jackson, Owen Lewis, Kathy Miles, Rob Miles, and David Smith.
