Support The Poetry Society

The Poetry Café new frontage.

The Poetry Society is energetically raising funds to pay for the exciting refurbishment of The Poetry Society’s much loved Poetry Café.

The works will update and improve access, increase the capacity, provide new heating and ventilation and acoustically separate the basement venue from the Cafe ground floor. Every aspect of the visitor experience will be improved, providing a home for poetry for years to come. To donate to the project, insert the level of support you feel appropriate in the box below. All donations, however small, are very gratefully received.

The Poetry Café will reopen in June 2017. You can sign up to the Poetry Café Mailing List if you’d like information emailed to you directly.

We really appreciate your support.

£2.50-£10 could pay for a new light switch or door handle.

£50-£100 could pay for a chair or wash hand basin.

£250 could pay for new speakers or a new fire door.

If you feel you can give more please get in touch directly and we can talk you through what your donation could be used for. We’re still raising money to complete the acoustic separation between the basement venue and the Café ground floor to ensure that performances are undisturbed.

“I promise you poetry can re-awaken your fire like a defibrillator to the spirit. I read three lines of a Seamus Heaney poem and it changed my day. Then I went online and saw that The Poetry Society is ‘a charity that exists to connect people to the transformative power of poetry’. Fiver right there.” – Emer Martin
