Joelle Taylor is a spoken word artist, slam poet and playwright. She has performed across the UK and internationally. In 2001, Joelle founded SLAMbassadors UK, the national youth slam championships, and she continues as the programme’s Artistic Director, working with thousands of young people across the UK every year.
Wilfred Owen’s ‘Dulce et Decorum est’ is a poem written during the First World War which attempted to expose the human atrocities of war and the lack of glory in warfare.
Joelle Taylor’s poem ‘Last Poet Standing’ discusses the experiences of many young people she has worked with; exploring themes of gang culture, inner city poverty and the power of poetry to transform young people’s lives.
