Burning Eye Presents…

Wednesday 11 December 2019, 7:30 pm10:00 pm

Burning Eye Books presents a loud, political poetry night – a call to disrupt the state of things.
Featuring Burning Eye Poets Jamie Thrasivoulou, Tyrone Lewis, Hafsah Aneela Bashir, and Maria Ferguson

Jamie Thrasivoulou Poet
Jamie Thrasivoulou is a Performance Poet/Spoken word artist, and writer of fictional narratives. His work is highly politicised, raw and honest. He writes about class, discrimination, and alternative-lifestyle choices.
His Latest Collection – Our Man, is available now from Burning Eye Books: https://burningeye.bigcartel.com/product/our-man-by-jamie-thrasivoulou

Tyrone Lewis – Spoken Word
A pop-culture powerhouse of a poet. As comfortable in front of a camera as he is behind it, Tyrone is a full time video editor. He says words to people sometimes.

Tyrone Lewis the first ever Roundhouse Poet and a Roundhouse Poetry Slam Champion. He won the 2017 Axis Winter slam and was a finalist in the UK Farrago Slam Champions in 2017 and 2018 as well as being a finalist in the Hammer and Tongue Slam Championships 2018. He was also nominated as the editor’s choice for Best Spoken Word Performer for the 2018 Saboteur Awards.

His debut collection “Blackish” is available from Burning Eye Books: https://burningeye.bigcartel.com/product/blackish-by-tyrone-lewis

Hafsah Aneela Bashir
Hafsah Aneela Bashir is a writer and performance poet. Co-director of the arts collective, Outside The Frame Arts, she is passionate about platforming voices outside of mainstream arts. She works with marginalized and underrepresented communities delivering creative writing workshops centred around identity and empowerment.

Hafsah Aneela Bashir’s debut poetry collection “The Celox and the Clot” is by turns tender, poignant and fierce. With searingly sharp detail, this is an exploration of the private and the public, teasing out the relationship between the two; compelling readers to stop and look again and again at what they had imagined was the familiar.

Maria Ferguson – Writer
Maria Ferguson, is a poet and theatre maker from Romford in Essex. Her début one-woman show ‘Fat Girls Don’t Dance’ won the Saboteur Award for Best Spoken Word Show in 2017, and she’s currently performing my new show ‘Essex Girl’ around the UK.

Her Debut Collection “Alright, Girl?” is coming out with Burning Eye Books in December
