Hot Dog Books and Trouser Books: poetry & folded book workshop

Thursday 25 April 2019, 10:30 am4:30 pm

£45 – £55

How would your poems look presented in a Hot Dog book? Or a Trouser book? What about a Jacob’s Ladder Accordion Flexagon book?

To coincide with her utterly fantastic Poetry Café exhibition Knee Deep, poet and artist Ceri Amphlett will combine three of her creative loves – poetry writing, ink-painting words and folded book forms – in a fun and inventive workshop.

Beginning with a series of writing exercises, you’ll explore ways to visualise your words and present them in simple book-forms. Experiment with ink, hand lettering and mark-making, folding and cutting to create books as containers for the poems – each one unique and personal.

Please bring a few of your own poems, or some classic favourites that you’d like to work with. You’ll also need an apron or protective clothing. All other materials will be provided. No experience necessary, just a willingness to invent and play.
