Christmas is on its way once more – and in one of London’s favourite traditions, the famous Norwegian Christmas Tree will soon begin its journey to Trafalgar Square.
The Poetry Society and the Royal Norwegian Embassy are once again encircling the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree in poetry, to celebrate the City of Oslo’s annual gift to London, as part of The Poetry Society’s ‘Look North More Often’ programme, which has been running since 2009.
This year, poet Clare Pollard is writing a new poem to welcome the tree inspired by poetry written by pupils from local primary schools. Her poem will be displayed around the base of the tree throughout the festive season.
Join us to see the lights being switched on in Trafalgar Square at 6pm, on Thursday 5 December and to hear pupils from a local primary school reading the poem. Celebrate poetry in the heart of London with us this Christmas.
