Making poetry ‘work’ with Kayo Chingonyi, Kirsten Irving, Clare Pollard and Kate Potts.
Join the Poetry Society and the Society of Authors for an informal discussion about the practicalities of poetry. This event is particularly aimed at emerging writers but is open to anyone interested in the ‘business’ side of poetry. We’ll be discussing topics including:
Pamphlets // Copyright // Networking // Fees
Commissions // Performances // Starting a press
Collections // Reviewing // Mentoring // Teaching
Residencies // Funding // Self-promotion // Prizes
Tutoring // Public lending right // Online profile
The day job // Magazines // Payments // Contracts
You can ask questions and there’ll be a break in the middle of the evening (so you can get cracking on that networking). Then the poets will each do a short reading.
DATE 23 July 2015
