Meanwhile is a new, queer-led poetry and design magazine founded by former Foyle Young Poet Shaw Worth and graphic designer Dowon Jung. Freedom from Speech celebrates the first issue and physical release of the magazine, featuring appearances from several contributors. The event is co-produced by Aberdeen-based arts collective Re-Analogue (also co-founded by a former Foyler, Ian Macartney). Readers include Ian Macartney, Mukahang Limbu, Shaw Worth, and Anita Markoff.
The evening will feature readings and presentations from contributors, then be opened for an open mic following a 15-minute break during which audience members may sign up. Entrance fees and magazine prices will go towards covering magazine costs and future endeavours.
This event is suitable for all ages however there will be some explicit language and frank discussion of queer relationships.
