The 2021 Annual General Meeting of The Poetry Society will this year be held online, to enable as many members as possible to attend safely, for the following purposes:
1. To consider and adopt the General Council’s Report and Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2021.
2. To elect the General Council.
3. To appoint Auditors to hold office until the conclusion of the next Annual General Meeting.
Members of The Poetry Society are invited to attend the event. To attend the AGM, and the celebratory reading which follows the formal business of the meeting (see below), please RSVP to the membership team, [email protected] using the subject heading ‘AGM 2021’
The AGM will take place using the digital platform Zoom. Those RSVP-ing will be sent full joining instructions. We are happy to help anyone who needs support using Zoom. Anyone unable to attend virtually may request a proxy vote.
Poetry Society AGM Celebratory Reading
The formal business of the AGM will be followed by a celebratory reading by prizewinners in recent Poetry Society competitions and poets we have worked with over the years. They include Kayo Chingonyi, a former winner of our SLAMbassadors competition, the winner of The Poetry Society’s Geoffrey Dearmer Prize in 2012 and former guest-editor of The Poetry Review; Jane Wilkinson, winner of the Society’s Hamish Canham Prize 2021; and Sarah Wimbush, winner of the Stanza Poetry Competition 2021. They will be accompanied by representatives from The Poetry Society’s youth programmes.
The reading will begin once the formal business of the AGM is done, normally by 7.30pm.
