Etta Dia is releasing the second edition of her first poetry collection Venus Shells (Burning Eye Books). In which she explores the struggles faced by a single mother and sufferer of abuse, in search of the strength to move forward and heal. Etta Dia was born in London in 1990 to a mixed English/French/Indonesian family. She was formally trained in ballet as a child and went on to graduate from Camberwell UAL with an honours degree in Fine Art Painting. Etta Dia performs her poetry across the country and raises her daughter as a single mother.
The Launch will begin at 7pm when guests are welcome to come in and help themselves to complimentary food and drink. At 8pm there will be a viewing of the author’s first poetry/dance film, written and performed by her as an experiential extension of the book. At 8.25pm there will be an interval and chance for guests to have a drink and/or something to eat. At 8.45pm the author will read from Venus Shells. At 9.15pm there will be an opportunity for guests to speak to the author and she will be selling and signing books. The event will end at 10pm.
