Artlyst and The Poetry Society are delighted to announce the longlists for the inaugural Art to Poetry Award, in both the adult and youth competitions.
The Artlyst Art to Poetry Award is a new international award for poetry responding to works of art. It launched in December 2019.
The adult entries were judged by the poet and art critics Sue Hubbard and Kelly Grovier representing Artlyst, Judith Palmer and Ben Rogers from The Poetry Society, as well as poets Katrina Naomi and Helen Ivory. The adult competition received over 1,500 ekphrastic poems, inspired by a dazzling variety of works from classical to modern eras, and responding to a range of media, including sculpture, painting, photography and artists’ video.
The youth competition was judged by poet Rachel Long, Helen Bowell from The Poetry Society and Frances Segelman (Lady Petchey).
The announcement of the overall winners will be made later in July to coincide with the publication of a limited edition winners’ anthology, with original drawings designed by celebrated artist Sean Scully.
