Success for Audrey Molloy in Listowel Poem of the Year & Fool for Poetry competitions

Two successes for Poetry Society Member Audrey Molloy!

Audrey’s poem ‘Salt Rain’ was awarded the Listowel Writers’ Week Poem of the Year 2019. Fellow Member Paul McMahon was Commended.

Audrey also won second prize in the Fool for Poetry International Chapbook Competition for for her manuscript Satyress. Audrey’s chapbook will be will be published by Southword Editions in 2020 and launched at the Cork International Poetry Festival (24-28 March). She receives a cash prize of €500 and accommodation with full board for three nights at the festival.

Finalists and commended manuscripts were selected by Patrick Cotter. A judging panel of James Harpur, Gerry Murphy and Maya C. Popa voted on the ten finalists to determine the winners

Success too for Poetry Society Members Caroline Bracken and Jenny Mitchell, who both made the final list of ten manuscripts. 

Audrey is an Irish poet based in Australia. Her work has been widely published and in 2019 she was selected for Poetry Ireland‘s Introductions Series and received the Hennessy Award for Emerging Poetry.
