Josh Ekroy wins £1000 Guernsey International Poetry Competition

Poems on the Move 2018

Daljit Nagra has picked Poetry Society Member Josh Ekroy for the £1000 first prize in this year’s Poems on the Move, Guernsey International Poetry Competition, for his poem ‘PSTD’. Fellow Society Member Peter Wallis was third (for ‘Rain’), with Jonathan Edwards taking second place for ‘On Hearing You Have Lost Your New Love’.

Foyle Young Poet Lyra Davies wins the Young People’s Category for ’12:04am, a Figure on the Pier’. All the winning poets will have their poems displayed on Guernsey buses, along with Poetry Society Members Claire Booker, Zillah Bowes, Scott Elder, Sue Proffitt, Simon Rees-Roberts, and Anthony Watts.

The sixth Guernsey Literary Festival takes place from 10-13 May 2018 and offers a varied and energetic celebration of literature with something for everyone – from aspiring writers to families looking for a fun day out. The International Poetry Competition Winners’ Reading takes place on 10 May 2018.
