Poetry Society Members’ News round-up: Creative Future Writers Award, Crabbe Poetry Competition, Vernal Equinox, Lord Whisky Animal Sanctuary

Helen Grant, Liam Bates and Ginny Darke were on the shortlist for a Creative Future Writers’ Award. The aim of the award is to give an opportunity to writers to develop their work through training, mentoring, assessment and coaching. The Poetry Society’s Helen Bowell wins a Bronze award. Read more

David Healey was Highly Commended and Fran Reader Commended in the Crabbe Poetry Competition judged by Martin Figura. The competition is open to anyone who was either born, educated, working or resident in Suffolk, or is a Suffolk Poetry Society member. Read more

Stephen Keeler was second in the Vernal Equinox Competition, Anthony Watts was Highly Commended, Peter Russell was Commended, and Lynn Valentine was third in the Scots section. The competition is organised by The Federation of Writers (Scotland) which is dedicated to making the written and spoken word available to the public of Scotland, with respect for diversity and recognition of additional support needs. Victoria Gatehouse was second in the Lord Whisky Animal Sanctuary Poetry Competition judged by Jane Lovell. The theme was nature, wildlife, the environment, rescue animals and related topics. Estelle Price and Scarlett Ward Bennett were Highly Commended, and Mark Totterdell, Tina Cole, Kathy Finney and Eveline Pye were Commended. Read more
