Val Ormrod wins Magic Oxygen Literary Prize

CONGRATULATIONS! to Poetry Society Member Val Ormrod (who also won the Ware Poetry Competition recently), this year’s winner of the Magic Oxygen Literary Prize for her poem ‘The Gathering’.  Success too for Jonathan Greenhause who came third for ‘My Coworker Calls Out Sick’. Jonathan won an Aesthetica Creative Writing Award last year. Samantha Martin was one of the runners-up for ‘At A Crossroads’.

The Magic Oxygen Literary Prize has been running for the last five years with over 1000 entries in two categories – Stories and Poetry – from across the world and £1000 first prize in each. Each entry helps to support the charity The Word Forest Organisation who plant new forests in Kenya, build schools in the impoverished communities that surround them and empower the children and villagers to take care of the trees. Every entry to the competition resulted in a tree being planted in Kenya.
