Poet Colin Watts visits South Shore Academy

On Saturday 10 November the brilliant poet and educator Colin Watts visited South Shore Academy in Blackpool. The school entered students’ poems into the Young Poets Network challenge with End Hunger UK and won a prize draw to receive a free poet visit.

Colin delivered workshops as part of the school’s weekly ‘Shine at South Shore Saturday School’. Together with students from five different year groups, he explored the theme of Remembrance through poetry, ending by sharing ideas and reading work aloud. The day ended with a delicious two-course meal funded by local vendor Get Stuffed Pie House.

Throughout the workshops, the students created stunning poems which are to be included in a school anthology.
