The Poetry Café has been home to a discussion on BBC’s The One Show on the severe impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on the arts and cultural sector – especially in London’s West End, where the Café itself is located. Cultural Critics Lyn Gardner and Paul Morley spoke on the devastating effects the sudden closures of cultural venues are having on the UK’s artists, performers and arts workers, many of whom are freelancers.
If you’re in the UK, you can watch the segment on BBC’s iPlayer, from 13 minutes in.
If you are an arts freelancer affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, you can find more information on support available on Arts Council England’s website. Please note that as this is a rapidly changing situation, advice from public bodies is likely to change.
