Terry Gifford has announced the longlist for the Wells Festival of Literature Poetry Competition, which includes Poetry Society Members galore! Included on the list are Robin Kidson (for two poems), Rosie Jackson (for two poems), Christopher North, Kerry Darbishire, Linda Saunders, Deborah Harvey, and Sharon Black – good luck to them all!
Miriam Nash will be judging the Young Poets Competition.
This prize giving will take place during the Festival at a special ceremony in Cedars Hall Wells on 21 October.
The Wells Festival of Literature was set up in 1992 to promote the love of books and of reading throughout the community. It’s run by a committee of volunteers, and is funded by ticket sales, competition entries and generous local sponsors. They now operate over nine days every October and celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2017. The 2018 Festival will take place in Cedars Hall, a state-of-the-art performance venue situated in the beautiful grounds of Wells Cathedral School.
