During 2017, The Poetry Society underwent an ambitious renovation project, transforming our much-loved Café into a vibrant, welcoming space for a wide community of tea drinkers and poetry lovers.
We’re hugely excited about the changes we’ve made, with a new lift to make the space fully accessible, increased Café capacity so we can welcome more visitors and poetry lovers, and a reshaped performance space offering a dramatically improved experience for audiences and performers; including new loos, air-conditioning and soundproofing.
However, we’re still raising money to finish the refurbishment and introduce new fittings, including new furnishings and new audio visual equipment. When these final elements are in place, we can fully realise our ambitions for a truly transformed and transformational Poetry Café.
You can donate here and now, and your support will help us to reach our final fundraising target and secure the future of the much loved Poetry Café.
The renovation of the Café and The Poetry Society’s premises was made possible thanks to the generosity of a wide range of funders including Arts Council England, The Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation, City Bridge Trust, Garfield Weston Foundation, The Robert Gavron Charitable Trust and SUEZ Communities Trust – and a host of individual contributors, not least the members of the blockbusting fundraising Poem-a-Thon, held in Summer 2017. We are very grateful for everyone’s support.
