An anthology of poems exploring the extraordinary lives of African footballers in Britain, from a collaboration in 2018 between The Poetry Society and Thinking Outside the Penalty Box, a project run by Lizzy Attree and Nick Makoha. A challenge on Young Poets Network, our digital platform for young writers, encouraged poets to look beyond the stereotypes and headlines to write poems about the experience of African footballers playing in the UK. The anthology contains the challenge-winning poems alongside poems written by workshop attendees, workshop-leader Kayo Chingonyi, project-leader Nick Makoha and poets Roger Robinson and Sugar J.
