Sarah Howe wins T S Eliot Prize

Loop of Jade coverSarah Howe has been awarded the 2015 T S Eliot Prize for her debut collection, Loop of Jade (Chatto & Windus), judged by Pascale Petit, Kei Miller and Ahren Warner. This is the first time a debut collection has won the prize.

Chair of the judges, Pascale Petit praised Sarah for her “startling exploration of gender and injustice through place and identity … her daring experiment with form. She brings new possibilities to British poetry.” 

The prize is awarded to the author of the best new collection of poetry published in the UK and Ireland each year.

Sarah is judge of The Poetry Society’s National Poetry Competition 2015 and was a winner of the 2000 Poetry Society Young Poet of the Year Award (Simon Elvin/Foyle Young Poets).
